Music & Worship

The Music Ministry of Providence UMC is known as a leader in church music and for training leaders in worship.  The Music Ministry is inspired to use music to help bring people closer to God through worship. Our standards of excellence are high as we want to honor God with our best efforts. Highlights of PUMC Music

The Robinson Family Pipe Organ

The PUMC organ is Parkey OrganBuilders Opus 14, incorporating the rebuilt Aeolian-Skinner organ (Opus 1472) originally housed in the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC. It was removed, restored, and reinstalled at PUMC in 2013. This organ is the central instrument in the music ministry where it leads congregational singing, accompanies multiple choirs, and is featured in select concert events.

Providence Chamber Music Series

Each month (September through May), professional musicians from around Charlotte come together to perform chamber music from all genres. All recitals are free of charge to the community. We are indebted to the professional musicians for their contribution of time and talent in making this chamber series possible. A very special thank you goes to Lori Tiberio, Artistic Director, for organizing and programming this series.

David Bashor Memorial Organ Concert Series

This Concert Series presents organ recitals from September through May. Our series is named in memory of Dr. David Bashor, a member of the Chancel Choir for over thirty years, who served for over a decade as chair of the organ committee. His vision and dedication to this endeavor are largely responsible for the beautiful organ that now graces the Sanctuary. For his efforts, we will be forever grateful and we’re honored to name the organ series in his memory.
