Providence United Methodist Church offers many ways to serve our church, our community, and our world.
Peruse our opportunities listed on the left of this page to find your place for service.
Through a partnership with St. John's UMC, St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, and Freedom School Partners, Providence UMC will help educate 50 scholars at a Freedom School this summer. There are lots of ways for you to help, from reading in the morning to chaperoning field trips to leading an activity in the afternoon.
We also need your donations of magazines, cereal boxes, shoe boxes, sporting equipment, copy paper (all colors), paper towel rolls, tissues, hand sanitizer, school supplies, board games, newspapers, paper/plastic grocery, cylinder containers (oatmeal and coffee), and hula hoops. Please bring your donations to the Missions Armoire in our Breezeway.
Make our Magic Meal Recipe at your home, whenever it's most convenient for you! Bring your frozen casserole to the UMW refrigerator (directions with recipe). When combined, five Magic Meals will feed thirty women and childen at the Shelter for Battered Women. Sixty Magic Meals will feed 360 homeless men at the Men's Shelter of Charlotte. Get your kids involved and have a conversation about hunger while you cook! Click HERE for the recipe.
Attention physicians, dentists, nurse practitioners, and nurses! Our Haitian friends need your gifts and talents at The Haiti Mission next year. Join a medical team and become part of our 33 year success story in Haiti. Mission trips will be January 20-28, April 13-21, July 13-21, and October 12-20. Pediatricians and dentists are especially needed.
At Providence UMC, we strive to be good stewards of all that God has given us. Rather than throw away our household items, we donate them to one or more of our missions.
If you have a heart for foreign missions, please consider donating your treasures to our annual Attic Sale that benefits our Haiti School of Mercy, the Haiti Microcredit Program, and The Haiti Mission (medical).
"Whatever you ask in prayer with faith, you will receive."
- Matthew 21:22
Providence UMC partners with several missionaries and at their request, we offer specific prayers each week. For our missionaries we ask that you pray for respect for refugees and immigrant communities, an end to violence, continued financial support of specific programs, successful language learning, continued alliance with agencies in their respective communities, good health, travel mercies, the healthy growth of the church across the globe, ecological renewal, and most importantly, the Lord's guidance and wisdom.
Benefits Crisis Assistance Ministries. Take your donations to the white cabinet in the Catacombs (basement).
Benefits Loaves and Fishes. Place your donations inside the bench by our Parlor. Thanks to our Providence UMC Weekday School families for their ongoing support of Loaves and Fishes!
