Welcome to Providence United Methodist! Here’s an easy, quick way to get you on your way to your first visit to our campus – design your visit online.
It’s simple – click on the “Design My Visit” link below and provide some basic information about yourself, your family and your preferences. From your answers, our Coordinator of Welcoming Ministries will create an itinerary for the Sunday of your choice. A member of the Welcoming Team will contact you by phone, go over the itinerary with you, and see if any changes need to be made. Then – on your chosen Sunday – your team member will meet you at the Welcome Desk with your itinerary and guide you through your visit with us. Your guide will answer your questions, help get your children settled in Sunday School classes or Childcare and show you to an adult Sunday School class or the sanctuary for worship.
It will only take a few minutes to finish our questionnaire and get you on your way to your First Sunday experience at Providence UMC. If you have any technical difficulties, please feel free to call us at 704.366.2823.
Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to introduce you to our church family. We look forward to meeting you.

If you are new to Providence, the Welcome Desk is the place to find all the answers to your questions! Located just inside the main doors of the church, the desk is staffed by friendly volunteers who are ready to help you choose a Sunday School class to visit, direct you to the sanctuary or help you get a cup of coffee from the Atrium Coffee Bar.

Providence offers two identical worship services every Sunday morning with Sunday School for adults and children in between.

Membership Process
Wherever you are on your spiritual journey with Christ, you are welcome at Providence UMC.
To join Providence, each person must attend the two-session Inquirer’s Class of Providence where you will meet our pastors, and discuss pathways to get involved, grow in your faith and to serve God & others. We will also review expectations of membership and answer any questions you have about Providence UMC. We meet on the first and second Sunday of every month from 9:45 am to 10:45 am in the church parlor. For current dates or for more information, contact our Interim Coordinator of Welcoming Ministries, Meredith Ritchie at: Email Meredith
The first step to membership is the Inquirer’s Class of Providence, and then new members must also attend the Spiritual Gifts class. When you attend the Spiritual Gifts Class at Providence, you will learn that God has created each of us with a unique set of spiritual gifts so that we may fill the many needs in our world. This class will not only help you discover where you should serve, but why.
After taking both the Inquirer’s Class of Providence and the Spiritual Gifts Class, each person will identify a small group and serving ministry in which to serve.
Next, you are ready to affirm your faith and commitment to God, the United Methodist Church and Providence UMC during worship.
There are three ways to join Providence UMC. If you are currently a member of another church, regardless of denomination, you can join by Transferring your Membership. If you are not currently a member of another church, you can join Providence UMC by Reaffirmation of Faith or by Profession of Faith. Those who join by Reaffirmation of Faith were once a member of a church but are no longer affiliated with one. Those who join by Profession of Faith have never been active in a church or baptized and are now professing their faith to God for the first time through baptism.
