Service & Ministries at Providence - Cuba Mission

Cuba Mission

THE CUBA MISSION began in 1993, when a volunteer team from the Methodist Association, representing the cause of Hispanic Americans (MARCHA), was able to visit Methodist Churches in Cuba, following many years of isolation. Following this initial contact, the United Methodist Volunteers in Mission in Cuba (UMVIM) was established to provide a mission related work team program in Cuba. The intent is to help build churches and schools, and to minister to the needs of the people. Our involvement was initiated in 2002, when several people from the PUMC congregation traveled with members of two other Charlotte churches to distribute medical and other supplies to various Methodist churches in Cuba.
