Service & Ministries at Providence - THE HAITI MISSION

THE HAITI MISSION

THE HAITI SCHOOL OF MERCY

PUMC is involved in two missions in Haiti. Volunteers to go on these missions, donations to support their work and prayers are always needed. The Haiti Mission is a medical mission in the northern, rural Tovar area. Four times a year teams consisting of doctors, nurses and non-medical personnel travel to Haiti for a week long clinic. In addition to these teams, the mission provides a doctor weekly, a full time nurse and medications.

The School of Mercy is located in the rural Carmilot area, also in the northern region of Haiti. Re-opened by PUMC in 2008, the school provides approximately 200 children the opportunity for a free education. Teacher’s salaries, book, supplies and uniforms are provided through this mission. Building improvements (electricity, clean water, paint) and special programming for the children (English lessons, vocational training and fun events) are needed.
