Policies
Philosophy of Discipline
One of the purposes of the weekday school is to foster the development of self-control and self-discipline. We believe positive methods of guidance contribute more to the development of self-discipline than do negative ones.
Because we are working to maintain a relaxed, controlled environment, we set limits and expectations based upon the maturity of the children. Teachers take the responsibility for consistently enforcing these limits.
Techniques
of behavior management in use in our school include:
- Modeling
- Positive
reinforcement
- Redirecting
the child to other areas of the classroom or to a new activity
- Reflective
time
These techniques help children learn to redirect their energies into constructive outlets and take responsibility for their own actions.
Allergic
Response
The
PUMCWS seeks to provide a safe environment for all children
in our program. PUMCWS has developed a policy to address and
respond to the wide ranging allergies and allergic reactions
common among children (peanut, dairy, wheat, shellfish, insects,
etc.). It is important to note that we can not guarantee an
allergy-free school. However, we are deeply committed to working
with our school families to provide a policy that can support
children with allergies when at all possible.

Policies, check out the current PUMCWS Handbook.
