Ukrainian Mission Trip

The Mission Council has approved a NEW international mission trip to Slovakia to host a “respite” camp on May 15-25 for 20 Ukrainian kids (and their mothers) whose fathers were killed in the war. The kids, who continue to live in the war zone in Ukraine, will have access to psychologists, rest, and our loving care during the camp. The cost to send one child to camp is $750 and we’d like to raise $15,000 to support the camp and the team. Would you support this trip by making a generous donation by noting “Intl Mission” on your check or online giving (HERE)?

Responding to Conflict in the Middle East

We join with the United Methodist Church Council of Bishops who condemn the violence in the Middle East and call for prayer to protect the innocent, to hope for a merciful end to this Israel/Gaza conflict and to see lasting peace in the Holy Land. Consider making a donation to Providence UMC and earmark it for UMCOR. When disasters occur, the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) provides assistance that alleviates suffering and serves as a source of help and hope for the vulnerable. PUMC Dream Grant

PUMC Dream Grant

Do you have an idea for a mission project, but are not sure how to pay for it?  The Dream Grant is available to help you!  The Mission Council has created the Dream Grant program to encourage and invest in members who have an idea for a small small-scale (less than $2500) project that will serve the community.  The more innovative, creative, and out-of-the-box, the better! Experiments are welcome!  Maybe you have an idea to help some students at your school, a project to help in your neighborhood, or at your place of work.  Do you have an idea on how to expand a current program?  Would you like to raise some money to buy materials to paint a local non-profit you are involved in?  For more information, contact Rev. Brandon Dirks, Minister of Missions/Outreach HERE.

MISSION SUNDAY

PUMC members and visitors of all ages are invited to stop and help for as long or short a time as they have to fill plastic eggs with candy and a Bible verse and/or make an Easter Card on Sunday, March 19 (beginning at 9 AM).

The purpose of Mission Sunday is to spread the message of Easter and show our appreciation to our PUMC Mission Partners. Our partners include Charlotte Rescue Mission (Dove's Nest and Rebound), Oakhurst STEAM Academy,  What's Next, and others. Each will receive an Easter Basket full of eggs and cards of encouragement to pass out to their residents or staff.

We are currently collecting plastic Easter eggs and individually wrapped candy. A basket is located by the Welcome Desk for those who want to donate these items.

Continuing the Story - Return Advent Kit Boxes for Roof Above

With the decorations coming down and the turn of the calendar, you may be wondering how to continue to live out the beautiful story of the Jesse Tree that leads to the birth of Jesus. We gave out many Advent Kit boxes and you may still have yours. On the inside cover of each box is a unique way for your family to “continue the story” by filling up the box and returning it to the church with supplies for Roof Above Men’s Shelter. We invite you to bring your boxes and/or supplies (if you don’t have a box) to the display in the Atrium by the end of January. As Winter strengthens, there is a growing need among our unhoused neighbors. Suggested items include gloves, hats, socks, and men's underwear.
