BRIDGE BUILDERS / Ages 30-60's
BridgeBuilders is a class of 30 to 60 year old singles and couples, with children and without, that is welcoming to all. Our Sunday classes are varied- we may study a Bible series, have a brunch social, discuss a singular biblical topic, work on a mission project, fellowship with other classes on joint studies, or even just have some fun. We have regular social activities throughout the year, including a Super Bowl party, girls and guys nights out, and our annual Christmas party. The class sponsors a Room in the Inn night every year, makes sandwiches for Roof Above, and volunteers for Dinner at Providence. Our class supports and participates in many of the ministries of the church as well and we are deeply committed developing meaningful relationships inside and outside of Providence.
CHIPLEY BIBLE CLASS / Multi-generational Men & Women
The Chipley Bible Class welcomes all ages. The class is a lecture format Bible study class, which began meeting in 1971. Lessons are taught by dedicated class members and occasional guest teachers who offer well-researched and thoughtfully presented studies of both the Old and New Testaments. Lesson topics over the past two years have included the Gospel of John, Prophets of the Old Testament, the Lord’s Prayer, the Psalms, Teachings of Jesus, the English Bible from King James until Today, and Bible Translation.
The class supports local and global missions and has regular socials during the summer and during the Christmas season.
CHRISTIAN HOME / Ages 70's+
In this class, lessons are led by class members & guest teachers. The lessons are faith oriented book studies and includes some video series, such as ones by Adam Hamilton. This class gathers for social events and various service opportunities.
CONTEMPORARY WOMEN / Ages 40-90's +
This class is discussion focused and led by class volunteers. Lessons come from member-chosen books that help bring our faith into our contemporary world. The Contemporary Women’s class meets for social and service opportunities. We also support a charity each year. The current charity is Families Forward-an organization that works to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty in Charlotte.
DROP-IN CLASS / All are welcome!
This Sunday morning class is a great place to start for anyone looking to connect with an adult Sunday School class or explore a Sunday morning Bible study experience. Led by various teachers from several different classes, the study focuses on the Scripture passage used in each week’s sermon, offering an opportunity to explore the Bible more deeply and connect worship with everyday discipleship. Along with engaging discussion and study, the class also supports Providence’s monthly mission efforts and provides a welcoming space to grow in faith and community.
CROSSTALKER / 50-70's Couples & Singles
The Crosstalkers Class is a welcoming community centered around thoughtful discussion, shared faith, and meaningful connection. Through member-led and guest-led studies, the class explores Bible studies, faith-centered books, and current societal topics. Lively conversations and a focus on connecting faith to everyday life are at the heart of the class—and inspired its name.
Crosstalkers also enjoys serving and fellowship together through ministries like Room in the Inn, Wednesday Night Dinners, and Salvation Army bell ringing, while caring for class members in times of need. Throughout the year, the class gathers for small-group dinners, retreats, holiday celebrations, and other social events that help build lasting friendships and community.
THE JOY COMMUNITY / Adults with special needs
Participants in our Joy Community are active in worship, Wednesdays at Providence, and many other church activities. The Joy Community is a supportive fellowship group and they engage in Bible based lessons with lively music.
PATCHWORK / Ages 50's+, singles, couples, parents, grandparents
The Patchwork class is a diverse, lively, and supportive group of people--single, married, introverts, extroverts, new church members, long-time church members, visitors etc. In short, we are all Patches searching for a spiritual home and friends to be on the journey with us. Our heart is service to the church and the community.
Our lessons are mostly discussions, taught by class members and others with knowledge of the requested topics. Our strength is in the care and concern we share in our individual journeys.
While we are primarily over fifty in our life experiences, we welcome all to come and bring your own Patch to the class.
PATHFINDERS / Ages 40-50's
This class is discussion style, led by class volunteers and guest speakers. Lessons range from Bible studies, family life needs & contemporary concerns/issues and are selected by class members.
SERENDIPITY FRIENDS / Ages late 50's to 60's, couples & singles
This class focuses on lessons from book studies and videos, and related group discussions. Serendipity Friends gathers for social events and serve opportunities.
SOUL PURPOSE / 40’s—50’s, open to any age, singles/couples with young children up to college
This class’s focus is on growing our faith by expanding knowledge of the Bible and strengthening prayer life. Examples of service include supporting schools, the Youth Pumpkin Patch, and Room in the Inn. Throughout the year, the group meets for Adult socials, family potlucks, and serves GREAT coffee!
WESLEY MEN'S FELLOWSHIP / Men in their 40's and older
This class focuses on adult Bible series taught by class members, guest teachers, and retired pastors. There are special topics, such as reports on the Duke Endowment. This class gathers for social events and serve opportunities.
