Worship is at the heart of our life together - a time to connect with God, one another, and our community. Providence UMC offers multiple worship services on Sunday mornings. Each service offers a unique style so you can find a worship experience that's right for you, whether you prefer a traditional or contemporary feel.
8:30 AM RELAXED TRADITIONAL
Our 8:30 AM relaxed traditional service contains many of the elements of our 10:55 traditional service; however, there is a time of singing hymns chosen by the gathered congregation, music is provided by soloists, instrumentalists and small ensembles from our Chancel Choir, and the atmosphere is a bit more intimate. There are no acolytes and there is no procession except for special Sundays. Communion is celebrated kneeling at the altar rail on the first Sunday of each month.
9:00 AM CONTEMPORARY WITH THE NET
Our 9 AM Contemporary Service with The Net takes place in Wolfe Hall. This service features a warm, welcoming, and intergenerational congregation who enjoy causal, creative, and contemporary expressions of worship with a praise band and children’s moments all in less than an hour. 10:55 AM TRADITIONAL
Our 10:55 AM Traditional service features our full Chancel choir, acolytes and crucifer, organ, robust congregational song and our quiet times of prayer. At special times of the year, there are solo instrumentalists and instrumental ensembles that serve to enhance the services of worship. As in all of our services, the word is read and proclaimed and we respond with Affirming our Faith, giving our gifts and going out into the world. Communion by intinction is celebrated the first Sunday of each month. There is something exciting to experience each week. Join us online (HERE) or in person!
ST. JOHN’S CAMPUS
In 2014, St. John’s UMC and Providence UMC merged to combine ministry and mission impact in our community. The campus is located at 4305 Monroe Road in Charlotte.

When you arrive, you'll find designated guest parking spaces in front of the church along Providence Road. Our Hospitality Team will be at the Sanctuary and the Welcome Center portico entrances on Sunday mornings to welcome you, answer any questions, and help you find a worship service or Sunday School class.
You'll also find our Welcome Desk (by the front Welcome Center portico entrance), where you can pick up more information.

A professionally staffed nursery for infants through preschool is offered each Sunday. Our nursery offers a safe, loving environment and is open from 8:15 am to 12:15 pm.

Our 8:30 AM Relaxed Traditional and 9:00 AM Contemporary worship services each last about 45 to 50 minutes. Our 10:55 AM Traditional service lasts about one hour.

There is no dress code at Providence. We invite you to come as you are and wear whatever feels comfortable to you. On any given Sunday, you'll see people in suits and dresses, business casual attire, and jeans.

Our Hospitality Team is here to help! On Sunday mornings, you'll find team members wearing "Hospitality" name tags at our main entrances. They're happy to answer your questions, help you find your way around, or connect you with the right person.
If you don't see a greeter, simply stop by our Welcome Desk just inside the front Welcome Center entrance, and we'll be glad to assist you.
