Meet John Richardson

A talented organist, improviser, piano instructor, conductor, piano tuner, fiddle and saw player, John Richardson began playing the piano at the age of 3. He was the organist at his father’s church at age 8 and began formal organ study at 16 in his hometown of Lakeland, Florida.

John studied under Virgil Fox’s chosen student, Richard Morris, at Clayton College and State University in Morrow, Ga. and is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia where he studied with John Weaver. He served as an assistant at the Wanamaker Grand Court Organ in Macy's Department Store, Philadelphia, the world’s largest operational pipe organ. John has served at Providence United Methodist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina since 2023. He resides with his cat Boo Bear and teaches piano to his 20 children…through Arts+ community music school.
